Interactive model train for kids at Hasbro Hospital

Michael Migliori, MD, Ophthalmologist in Chief at RIH/Hasbro, designed, constructed, and donated an interactive operating model train and carnival for a surgical waiting room at Hasbro Children's Hospital. Massey Glass of Warwick donated and installed its display case.

Blue Cross Amended and Restated Agreement

BCBSRI is circulating an Amended and Restated Participating Physician Agreement to all its participating physicians. The Agreement will become effective April 10, 2010.

In light of RIMS' legal counsel's review, we have provided some questions and feedback to Blue Cross for the benefit of RIMS members.

Security breach in Chicago may affect many physicians

A laptop containing encrypted data on physicians who participate in Blue Cross plans was stolen. The data include their names, addresses, tax IDs, and NPIs. Physicians who use their Social Security Numbers as tax IDs will be contacted. Read NewsFlash

Help RIMS fight arbitrary physician provider tax

In July 2007, RI law imposed a 2% gross receipts tax on physicians who perform imaging services or have licensed ambulatory surgery centers. This tax affects hundreds of physicians, including some primary care practices. RIMS moved immediately to challenge the legality of this law, but the process requires several steps.
