The RIMS Council is the supreme governing and policy-making body of the Rhode Island Medical Society. The Council meets six times a year. Every doctor in Rhode Island is represented by medical specialty, by geographic area, and by the Councilors at Large.
Historical note From June 1904 to May 1997, the House Delegates was the supreme governing body of Rhode Island Medical Society. In 1997, RIMS became the second state medical society to eliminate its House of Delegates.

Medical Review Advisory Committee Established in 1996 at the urging of the NORCAL Mutual Insurance Company, the MRAC is a peer review committee that serves as a resource available to all professional liability insurers in Rhode Island. The objective is to explore thoroughly and candidly all aspects of a matter from a multidisciplinary perspective as an aid to establishing objectively applicable standards of care.
